Pretty soon after writing this Featured Item: Exporting requirements from Mercury TestDirector / Quality Center into Excel the next obvious question was coming: Now that we can export requirements into Excel, how about test cases with design steps?
So, did not really take that long before it was out there: Test Cases with Design Steps Export Sample. Nice looking Excel sheet with all possible fields from test case and design steps below it. And you can sort your fields into your favorite order.
There are advanced filtering that allows you to select folders of test cases, add fields to filter etc. so that you can really have what you need in your Excel. You have also the possibility to leave html formatting for memo fields or take the formatting away and leave just plain text! Your choice.
Now you can send this Excel to reviews to groups who are not using TestDirector / Quality Center and later on use the Excel add-in to get changes back to Quality Center.
Instructions on how to do this can be found in here: Export Test Cases with Design Steps into Excel (just fresh out from oven...).
