Utilities

We are creating small utilities and enhancements that work with Quality Center.

Many of these are custom made for some specific customer, but some of these we will also make available for other users.

This version of Utility Tools works with

  • Quality Center 9.0 (partial support for 9.2)
  • Quality Center 8.2
  • TestDirector 8.0

Utility Tools Release Notes are found in here: Utility Tools Release Notes and User Guide in here: Utility Tools User Guide.

General Utilities

General Utilities is holding many smaller and bigger utilities which help users to maintain their projects.

Advanced Test Set Reset and Change Utility

Allows users to change values for Test Case in Test Set over selected Test Sets and optionally remove all the runs as well while doing this.

Very helpfull utility when you need to mark for example your current build number into many test cases in test sets.

Test Plan Test Case Move Utility with Folder Structure

With this utility it is possible to selectively move test cases under one folder to another folder. Folder structure from original source is also created into destination, if it is not yet existing over there. It is also possible to use private favorite to limit the test cases that are being moved. By default all test cases are moved if no favorite is selected.

Export List of Quality Center / Test Director Users into Excel file

This utility allows Site Administrators to extract all users into Excel file. Also allows to select project information for user. You will need Site Administrator password in order to use this utility.

Utility will export user details like name, fullname, e-mail, description and phone number into Excel file:

Data Import - Export Utility

With Data Import - Export Utility you can take your Requirements and / or Test Cases out from TestDirector or Quality Center, save it locally in one file and export them into another project in another location. Even between different TestDirector / Quality Center server versions.

Features:

  • Works with Requirements, Test Cases and Test Plan folders
  • Copies attachments from above
  • Maintains Requirement - Test Case linking
  • Copies Linked Test Cases as well

With this utility you can actually keep two (or more) Quality Center project's Requirements and Test Cases syncronized!

Copy Utility - BETA

Copy Utility makes you possible to share your Requirements, Test Cases and Test Sets with other projects which is something that plain Quality Center / TestDirector does not allow you to do.

Version 1.0 has following features:

  • Copy Requirements (with Test Case coverage)
  • Copy Test Cases (with folder structure and Requirement coverage)
  • Copy Linked Test Cases
  • Copy Test Sets (with folder structure and Test Cases)
  • Copy also Attachments for all of these entities

For matching items between source and destination, Copy Utility uses simply path and entity name. If these two match, it will update item rather than creating a new one. This way it is possible to save existing run information, but still be able to update changes to destination project.

There is already lots of other features planned, but this is the starting point for all of this.

All of these Utilities requires Microsoft .NET 2.0 to run.

Try this out and give feedback, what else you would like to see in this utility!

Utility Tool news, discussions and announcements are found in OnRoad Test Management Community forum for Utilities.

This are always options for this, also on newer releases there is different way to deal with proxies. We have already found an way to get this working with your company as well. Not all of the licenses need to be floating ones and if you did not manage to get trial license automatically, use this http://www.juvander.fi/LicenseRequestForm.aspx to request one manually.
